Community Broadband Pioneers: South West Chapter

We are supporting the Lyme Regis Development Trust (LRDT) to explore the potential to install a community owned and managed telecommunications network on the Dorset coast this year with feasibility funding from the Adventure Capital Fund.

This work to establish “Digital Lyme” will build upon the Community Knowledge Transfer pilot initiative LRDT undertook in conjunction with the Creative Coop and Guifi.net during 2011-12, and is intended to enhance the Trust’s ambitious plans to establish a Jurassic Coast Studies Centre working with an array of local as well as national partners.

In addition to undertaking a detailed feasibility study, LRDT will contribute valuable learning to Our Digital Community – the ongoing action research and learning programme we’re helping The Creative Coop to deliver with support from the Department for Communities and Local Government – as one of five communities we’re now working with to pioneer the development of #digitalassets.
